Is this you?
-
He has a job, colleagues, a reason to leave the house every morning. You have the kids, the Kita bag and letters in a language you're still learning.
-
By evening, you have nothing left. And it's hard to explain why, even to him.
-
Your child melts down after Kita or school, and you feel it in your own body.
-
You used to handle a demanding career. Now even small things feel too big.
-
You love this new life. And it's exhausting you.
It's not you. It's five gaps at once.
A country that's hard to settle in.
Germany ranks 30th of 31 for settling in. 57% of expats find it hard to make local friends (40% globally).
Language and bureaucracy.
The top stressors for expats here.
And stress and isolation are the strongest predictors of how you feel.
A career on pause.
53% of accompanying partners don't work, though 84% want to.
Kita hours rarely fit a working day.
A child who holds on tighter.
In a storm of newness, mum is often the only constant.
Asking for help isn't easy.
If you're used to handling everything yourself, this move can feel like one more thing you should manage alone.
Why it feels three times harder?
If you're highly sensitive, every one of these gaps feels deeper.
If your child is too, they feel it, and they feel you.
Your stress becomes theirs. Their overwhelm becomes yours.
Without meaning to, you wind each other up.
The good news: a spiral works both ways.
When you find your ground, your child finds it too.
Hi, I'm Mariana.
I came to Germany in 2022 with a two-year-old and one suitcase. I know what it means to hold your child when you have nothing to hold on to yourself.
Today I'm an accredited coach for highly sensitive people (IACTM, member of the Association for Coaching) and a specialist for highly sensitive children.
I'm highly sensitive myself, and the mum of a highly sensitive daughter.
I work in English, German and Ukrainian.
Online, or in person in Bochum.

Testimonials

Client story
Same values. Different language of love.
She came to Germany unplanned, and met him here. Then his decisions started to feel like he didn’t love her enough. That put everything in question: a foreign country, a foreign language, a life she was building.
In coaching, we first clarified what truly mattered to her. Through that lens, she could finally see his values. They were the same as hers. Their cultures had simply taught them to show love differently.
The anger she couldn’t put into words disappeared. So did the tension between them.

Do you also work with my child?
I start with you, the parent. Supporting your child through you first has been the most effective approach in my practice. A child’s nervous system takes its cues from yours. When you find your ground, your child has something to lean on.
But when working with your child directly is the best strategy, I also offer packages for children. [Details here]
